Cambodian Police Free Baby-Peddler


A 31 year-old woman supposedly upset that her husband was physically abusing her, decided to get back at him by selling their baby.
The police were called after the woman was noticed peddling the child at a Cambodian market.

Incredibly, after hearing the woman’s story of abuse the coppers, clearly with better things to do than investigate domestic violence and child trafficking, (perhaps it was time for their midday pork and noodles) let the woman go after advising her to seek help from a Non-Government Organisation (NGO).

    I don't really see how this is 'revenge', unless she was also afraid for her child's safety with the baby's father.

    Exactly, Chiara. Which makes the police's inaction all the more disgraceful; her story doesn't ring completely true and should have been investigated more fully.
