Just cleaning the streets. No really, they are.
With the Cambodian National Rescue party's rally to protest the dodgy result of the recent election set for Sunday 7th, the Cambodian army is on high alert.
And there is nothing like a few hundred soldiers meandering down Monivong Boulevard, ostensibly doing nothing more than cleaning the street, to intimidate the population into not joining the rally.
That, and tanks in pagodas, and the low-flying army helicopters now being seen over the capital, should ensure lower numbers of protesters.
