The newest addition to assist in navigating Phnom Penh's puzzling street numbering system was released this week. And it's a delightful read for any true map-Aficionado.
I bought my copy today, almost as soon as I knew it had been released.
'Streetwise' confirms my earlier comments on Phnom Penh locals navigation ability: "Map-reading skills are not a local specialty," they wrote. So it's not as if the Streetwise map is going to help my local motodops get to where I want to go; usually when I show them on a map where I want to go, they nod their head in agreement and point their bike in the exact opposite diection.
Motoring off in the wrong direction is part of Phnom Penh's charm. Except when you are in a hurry. Which is why this map-nut is excited to have another navigational aid at her disposal; I'll now point with a lot more confidence; and the motodops can just drive.

Hi Pat,
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you.
I hope you have arrived safely in Phnom Penh. Mfone should be fun to work for, there are a lot of phone companies here.
It is safe, and you shouldn't have any problems.
