Independence Day: Cambodia

Cambodia is in the midst of a three-day celebration to mark its Independence Day. 56 years ago on November 9, 1953, King Norodom Sihanouk’s long campaign for self-rule succeeded as the French colonialists were finally pushed out of Cambodia.

  2. On a per capita basis Laos is the most bombed nation ever- twice as many were dropped on Laos than were on Germany during the Second World War.
Since the bombing ended in 1973, 5,700 Laotians have been killed and 5,600 injured by leftover explosives.

    Thanks for the comment!
