Cambodians Don't Bank

Just 3.7% of Cambodians hold a bank account according to the World Bank.

And while this figure is disputed- Cambodian bankers claim the figure is now more than 10%- even that number pales in comparison to other Southeast Asian nations.

Singapore heads the list with 98.2% of its citizens having a bank account; Thailand sits on 72.7%; Laos 26.8%; and Indonesia 19.6%.

The World Bank also claims that less than 1% of Cambodians actively use a bank account for the purpose of saving money.
