Phnom Penh Protesters Try Black Magic

Protesters sought to place a curse on corrupt officials by using black magic in an attempt to win back their land in Phnom Penh, yesterday.

A couple of decaying chooks and 10 baskets of salt and red chilli peppers were laid out in front the Ministry of Justice. These sat aside life-size effigies of a judge, a prosecutor and a lawyer, each with pockets crammed with imitation $100 bills.

Now, I get the effigies and the cash. And I get the rotting chickens.

But the baskets of salt and chilli peppers?
