Barbecued Seafood and Beer: A match made in heaven |
She doesn't say that she doesn't; she doesn't need to. For her often inscrutable face, flashes a reproach -it's gone in an instant, but it is there- whenever Ann sits down with a glass of wine.
While almost able to contain these facial censures in the home, outside the house the flicker gives way to something just a little longer.
Seeing this more obvious censure, as Ann cracks open a beer in a roadside seafood restaurant recently,I tell Socheata that it is considered fine for women to drink alcohol in New Zealand.
She says she knows and it OK with her. But it isn't, you can tell.
She will just have to get used to it, though. A glass of wine after work is part of our daily life, just as rice is of theirs!
