To cope with an expected big increase in the number of tourists visiting the kingdom, Phnom Penh is to have a new airport.
So said Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Akeak Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
"In terms of long-term development, it requires us to have a feasibility study on building a new international airport in Phnom Penh that could receive more than ten million passengers per year."
The location of the new airport was not divulged by the PM.
'We've already thought about a place to build. It might be a bit far from the existing airport, but I don't want to announce the location now because it might lead to extensive land speculation."
That sounds sensible. Except, with rampant corruption and many government officials lacking in anything resembling a moral compass, the news of the location will already be known by a select few and thus land speculation has likely already begun.
Don't ya think Samdech?
