Because it's Sunday

Foreigners on motorcycles are lucrative business for any Cambodian policeman looking for a way to extort a few dollars. (And that would be most of them)

Flag 'em down, pick an alleged offence- any should do- and negotiate a price. Next, please!

One foreigner, recently pulled over, asked the fat-bellied, vacant-eyed, officer what he had done wrong. The copper, strangely, seemed stumped for an answer.

But after a pause, he snickered, 'because it's Sunday!'

  1. A friend is driving down a Thai highway. A police officer flags him down and says "Did you were doing 120 in a 100 km zone?" Friend pays an 'on the spot fine'.

Same friend is returning a day or so later, same cop pulls him over and says "Did you know you were doing 100 in a 100 km zone?" and smiles.

    He pays the fine again.
