Stateless and therefore not automatically entitled to a passport, Mong, Thailand's under-twelve paper airplane champion, had to battle hard to even be allowed to fly to his event in Japan. It took a well-deserved slap by Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to get bureaucrats to relent and issue Mong with the required travel documentation.
Soon to be repatriated to Burma, the country of his parent's birth, Mong took a bronze medal in his individual event and was also one of a trio that won a team's event.
