9.27 - A few spots of rain appear. 'Ann, Ann (very loudly)…fon tok, fon tok!!' (it’s raining, it’s raining) 'Sak…sak!' (your washing, your washing!)
I go across the road and return my washing to its original position.
9.36 – Christians at the door. ‘We are Christian.’ That's the only English that they can speak and they quickly leave, disappointed that I cannot read or speak Thai fluently.
9.45 – My washing is moved and rearranged again to the other side of the road by my bossy neighbour.
9.49 – The brush man bicycles past at speed. I need a mop. 'Kor tort na ka!' ‘excuse me, wait!’'200 Baht.'
' Oh, too expensive!'
He looks puzzled. He has that look…you are a foreigner…you pay.
And I do...
10.07 – Coffee sellers yelling loudly at the door. They have a brochure. They shove it through the gate. ‘We deliver. You buy.’
No, I don’t drink that sort of coffee.
‘You buy. You buy!’
'No thank you.'
10.14 – More rain and the annoying neighbour moves my washing again.
10.16 Vanna, the cat, comes in proudly carrying a lizard. He sits down and rips its tail off before batting it around the floor.
10.17-No study so far today. Time to contemplate the washing and have a coffee before I clear away the lizard's tail and clean the floor with my new mop.
